Extreme cardiac and renal mortality from diabetes: 12-year blood-based prospective study of 150,000 Mexican adults
- Abstract:
- Previous studies of high-income (mostly Caucasian) populations have found that diabetes mellitus confers about a 3-fold increased risk of vascular disease at ages 40-59 and 2-fold increase at ages 60-69. In Mexico, diabetes is much more common than in most other countries but its relevance to mortality is unclear.
