Directional plasmonic scattering from metal nanoparticles in thin-film environments

Abstract:

The effect of a low refractive index film on plasmonic scattering from individual silver nanoparticles and nanowires is observed experimentally in Fourier space. The addition of the film over particles on a glass substrate was found to have a strong effect on the scattering pattern, due to interference between directly scattered light and light reflected from the interfaces, which depends strongly on the film thickness.
