The use of big data approaches in medicine promises to fill technology gaps in the translation of basic biological science into clinically actionable tools for the benefit of patient care. This thesis is focused on the development of necessary clinical cohorts and tools to facilitate the translation of our mechanistic understanding of the role of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) and the atrial myopathy in adverse cardiovascular disease events.
