Comparison of the hindfoot axes of a multi-segment foot model to the underlying bony anatomy

Abstract:

Musculoskeletal models used in gait analysis require coordinate systems to be identified for the body segments of interest. It is not obvious how hindfoot (or rearfoot) axes defined by skin-mounted markers relate to the anatomy of the underlying bones.
